CLOSED TRAILS!
Stowe Club indicates that due to the trail that has been running through a deer yard for a number of years, with no negative problems as reported as yet, Fish & Game representatives have aksed for an Act 250 Permit for access on this portion of the trail. Trail is now closed from Cotton Brook (Little River Forest Area) North to Route 100. This is a major Corridor Trail closure preventing connections North and South, and blocking loop rides around Waterbury, Worcester, Eden, and Stowe. Plan your trip accordingly!
Trails closed through Stowe Village as of January 2008. You can do some short rides through park, just watch out for the tour sleds that Umiak operates. they are out there 7 days per week.

WHERE TO PARK YOUR TRAILER
LITTLE RIVER PARKING LOT SOUTH....Near WN72..This is a good public gravel parking lot for recreation and access to snowmobile trails. Drive West from Waterbury on US RT 2. Cross the Little River and then turn right on to Little River Road heading under I89. Proceed to the parking lot on the left prior to reaching the Dam. Access to Route 2 Corridor Trail and Route 100 Trails.

LITTLE RIVER PARKING LOT NORTH..Commonly known as the Cotton Brook Parking Lot. This is a public gravel recreation lot to access the trails in the Little River Forest from the North, or to access the Route 100 trail North into the Stowe area. Proceed North on VT RT100. After crossing the Stowe/Waterbury Town Line turn West on to the road heading to Moscow. Proceed past Barrows Road, past Trapp Hill Road, over the brook, and take an immediate left into the gravel parking lot road. NOTE. This lot can be full with recreation users and snowmobile tour users. The Little River Parking Lot South is often a better choice.

DUXBURY COUNTRY STORE...This is a private business offering free parking, gas, oil, food. Proceed South on VT RT 100 from Waterbury. You will eventually find the Duxbury Country Store on the left. Access to the Route 100 Corridor trail West of WN58 in the Duxbury area.

MAYO PARKING LOT STOWE. This is a gravel public parking lot for snowmobiles. In Stowe Village on VT RT 100 turn West on to the Mountain Road at the 3 way Stop. Turn Right on to Weeks Hill Road. Turn left again on to the May Road and you will find the lot on the left almost on the corner. Access by a short side trail to LE24 and the Jct of 15B and 100F1. Good access to the trails North of Stowe.

This winter consider a trail ride from the Cotton Brook parking lot at the North end of the Little River Forest. Access this lot by heading through Moscow in Stowe, and turn left just over the bridge past Trapp Road. Unload your sled. Head South in the Little River Forest area towards the Dam, then East through Waterbury Center, over the notch to Middlesex, then north towards Elmore, looping back through Stowe, and then head to the Mayo Parking Lot in the Northern part of Stowe. (NOTE: Rt100 Corridor Trail in Stowe is closed. As a result you will now have to spot a second car at the Mayo Parking Lot in Stowe, or somewhere near the Citgo Station in Stowe, so you can drive back to your trailer at the Cotton Brook Parking Lot) The Route 100 crossing at Center Sunoco, Jimmz Pizza, Sunflower Foods are good stops. Fuel at Center Sunoco. Food, hot coffee, and drink at Sunflower Foods. Hot Pizza at Jimmz with inside seating. There are other stops in Worcester Village for a country store with fuel and food, Elmore Store in Elmore, and Stowe lower village, if you head to that destination, where where there is food at Commodores Restaurant, gas and convenience food at the Citgo Station.

Another trail ride must also starts at the Little River parking lot heading south, over the longest snowmobile suspension bridge in North America, crossing the Winooski River at Junction WN65 on the Route 100 Trail. Then take various loops near Camels Hump Mountain, and return via the same bridge to your trailer. A side trip to the Duxbury Country Store on Route 100 for gasoline, oil, spark plugs, and hot food with inside tables is not a bad idea.

There are numerous short rides in the Little River Forest area. You can park in the Little River Lot along Little River Road leading up from Rt2 under the Interstate towards the Dam. Take trails all through the park on various loops and lookouts. The trails are well marked in this area by our club. THIS IS AN ESPECIALLY GOOD AREA FOR A NIGHT RIDE, but bring a cell phone and emergency equipment on any night ride!

This winter we plan to host a number of published group rides. Just click the "CLUB RIDES" button at the left to find out when the next group ride is planned. Don't be a lone wolf! Bring the family for some great group rides both day an night.
